What is Coaching?
The Concise Oxford Dictionary indicates the verb "to coach" as "to train, to tutor, to give hints, to prepare through facts", activities that can be carried out in many ways, some of which have nothing to do with coaching.
The result that can be achieved with a coaching path is to release the potential of people to maximize their performance. It is not about teaching but about helping to learn. Coaching aims to improve the skills that the person already knows but which require enhancement.
The goal of performance enhancement is essential: the question is how to achieve it in the best way.
Coaching has its roots in ancient Greece, born and developed in the context of sports competition and, as such, has always been interpreted: coach and athlete both have the goal of improving performance and competing in the sports competition. Even in the professional world, competition is not lacking: in this context, the coach becomes the one who guides the professional towards established goals and objectives.
We can therefore define professional coaching as a partnership relationship that is established between coach and client (coachee) with the aim of facilitating the latter to achieve optimal results. Thanks to the activity carried out by the coach, clients are able to learn techniques that allow them to improve both their performance and the quality of their life.
In my activity as a professional coach, I deal in particular with business coaching, i.e. coaching specialized in work areas and aimed at improving the performance of workers, both in individual and group sessions.
